We All Have the Courage to Do This Work

I’m Stephanie Carlsen, a Denver therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor, and it’s an honor to meet you.

If you’re here, I know that you’re ready to do this work, and I want you to know this—you’re courageous for choosing to be here and you’re not alone anymore.

I remember a time when I craved to hear those words and to know that I was surrounded by a support system that would remind me of my strength and resiliency when I needed it most.

What I’ve learned over time is that you can’t ask for directions from someone who hasn’t been where you’re going. And I want you to know that even though my story may be different than your own, I understand what it means to take back power that was given away or taken without consent and to grow into your own authority so you can have full autonomy over your life.

The Journey of Healing is Not Linear

Some of the most defining moments in my life weren’t the smoothest. But on the other side of the struggle is where I earned the most wisdom and learned the lessons I would one day teach.

I understand that healing is not linear, and there is no shame in struggling along this journey because navigating transformation and investing in personal growth is messy and imperfect.

But the journey is worth it and you will come into your worth because of it. You will feel clear and confident knowing who you are, what you want and don’t want, and that you can trust yourself.

TRUSTING YOUR INTERNAL GUIDANCE SYSTEM IS ONE OF THE BEST TOOLS THAT THERAPY CAN GIVE YOU.

Self-disclosure Statement

We honor the trust our clients instill in us by participating in therapy and sharing what feels most vulnerable to them within a safe space. To continue to nurture and build trust with our clients, we use self-disclosure when appropriate and helpful.

In Full Disclosure

In the spirit of honesty, here are some things to know about me before we get started.

  • I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado (LPC.0012797).

  • I’m committed and devoted to doing the work for the love of the work itself and offer evidenced-based and alternative approaches. I’m a Registered Yoga Teacher and I’ve completed Reiki Level II training—I have extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Strengths-based Therapy.

  • I understand that our work is never done because healing is not a destination—it’s why I’m committed to continuing to learn and grow as I go. I’m currently pursuing additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and narcissistic and antagonistic abuse recovery.

  • INFP, taco-obsessed, Manifesting Generator! I love traveling and immersing myself in new cultures for the learning and growth it brings. I’m often out in nature with my dog, paddleboarding, swimming, sailing, snowboarding, or hiking. As a dedicated yogi, my practice is my reset button, bringing me home to myself.

  • I believe the process of becoming is about making peace with imperfection, learning to befriend the wisdom of our pain, and willingness to bravely and fully inhabit our bodies.

Our stories are journeys of epic proportions in resiliency. Therapy is where we tell these stories.

Our Sensitivities Are Our Strengths

If you consider yourself to be a highly sensitive and intuitive individual, you most likely can:

- Sense what others are feeling and have deep empathy toward their experiences

- Feel subtle shifts in energy and find it hard to manage your own feelings or self-regulate

- Find yourself moving in and out of your body as you experience different sensations

- Feel as well as think about things that happen around you on a deeper level than most

YOUR INNATE ABILITY TO FEEL IS WHAT MAKES YOU STRONG AND WHEN YOU LEARN TO MANAGE YOUR ENERGY AND EMOTIONS, THEY CAN BE YOUR GREATEST ASSET ON YOUR JOURNEY TO EMBODYING YOUR WHOLE SELF.

  • We help people access and harness their strength, deepen the trust they have in themselves and recognize their power and authority so they can live the life they most desire.

  • To help people become stewards of their own energy in a world that often feels chaotic and out of control, so they can contribute consciously to the energetic collective.

  • We honor, believe in, and operate from this set of values—authenticity, connection, curiosity, growth, honesty, humility, non-judgment, openness, spirituality, and trust.

If you’re ready to be present with your emotions, grounded in your body, and feel your feelings so they can move through you, then you’re in the right place.

WHAT WE RESIST PERSISTS AND NO ONE WANTS TO STAY STUCK, NOT KNOWING HOW TO MOVE FORWARD—THERAPY CAN BE WHAT MOVES YOU.
